| Wards and Census Tracts Map
This map contains every census tract for all eight wards in the District. The wards presented here reflect the new boundaries that became effective January 1, 2002. You can use this map to identify the census tract in which you live. Go to the menu bar along the left side of this map. Start in the upper left corner and move your cursor across until you reach the icon that looks like a magnifying glass with a handle or that reads, "Zoom in Tool." Click on this tool and bring it to the area on the map closest to where you live. Click on this area from one to six times (the area enlarges with each click). After six clicks you should be able to identify the boundaries close to your home. Over these boundaries you will see a two- or three-digit number in blue. This is your census tract (If you see a gray one digit number between 1 and 8 this is your ward). Return to these instructions and click here for Census 2000 data. Census data for 1990 and 1998 is available at the State Data Center. The center has population, age, race, and other data for your ward and census tract.
